FREE online lecture about “Pets and Antibiotics” - 8pm on Monday May 18

Monday 11th May 2015
Everything a pet owner should know about pets and antibiotics – and how YOU can help in the fight against antibiotic resistance We have teamed up with the pet care educators at Pet Webinars and The Webinar Vet to run a free online session to help pet owners and animal-lovers understand more about the threat of antibiotic resistance and how to keep pets healthy. The evening webinar will take place at 8pm on Monday May 18, and will be hosted by vet and BMF advisor Elaine Pendlebury and BMF founder Jill Moss – who lost her own dog Bella to a deadly antibiotic resistant infection. Elaine and Jill will talk people through the differences between bacterial and vial infections, what antibiotics are and how and when they are prescribed by vets, as well as what antibiotic resistance is and why it is so dangerous. The pair will also explain the importance of hygiene and good preventative healthcare tips for your pet. Registration is free and attendees will be able to pose questions to Elaine and Jill in real-time. Elaine said: “We've all heard about superbugs like MRSA in hospitals, and we're hearing more and more now from scientists and politicians about how resistance to antibiotics poses a growing danger to human health and to farm animals. “But don't forget, our pets take antibiotics too and they can also catch superbugs, and the more aware owners are of what bacterial infections are and what it means to use antibiotics responsibly, the safer it will be for our pets, ourselves and our families. “Jill and I will be taking owners through the ins-and-outs of pet antibiotics, when and why they're used, and what you as an owner can expect if your pet is diagnosed with an infection. We'll also be taking all your questions on the night, as well as giving some top tips on pet healthcare.” Anthony Chadwick, who runs The Webinar Vet and Pet Webinars, added: “I'd really like to encourage as many people as possible to join Jill and Elaine on the 18th and get a bit more clued-up on antibiotics. “Please share this with as many people as possible and lets help keep antibiotics working to keep us and our pets stay healthy and happy.” To register for the free “Pets and Antibiotics” session,
